December News
On December 23, students studying with us on the RLUS programme successfully completed their first semester. Our whole department celebrated this event with a "Russkiy Chai" Party (Russian Teaparty). The students were awarded certificates and given presents and then they held a merry concert for their teachers and friends where they read Christmas poems by Boris Pasternak, sang English songs, acted out comedy sketches and taught everybody to dance an old Celtic dance.
It was the first time we said goodbye to our students not forever, but only until February because this year they will be the first ones to spend not just a semester, but a whole year at Language Link. We will greet them again on February 5 and continue our studies.

On 3rd September, our RLUS students arrived in Moscow for their 13-, 18- or 36-week course at Language Link. They come from many different universities in the UK: St. Andrew's, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, Sheffield, UCL. On their first day, they were warmly welcomed into the Russian Department with "Ðóññêèé ×àé". Their initial one week intensive language course, which included conversation lessons both in the classroom and around Moscow, has helped the students activate their Russian language knowledge. The students started their regular lessons on the 12th September feeling excited for their months ahead at Language Link Moscow.

The first class of students who attended lectures on principles of teaching Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) has graduated from the Russian Department. The students, already having higher education in the humanities, attended lectures on the particularities of teaching grammar, phonetics and speech of all levels, on intensive course work and on teaching special courses. Moreover, students underwent cross-cultural training on the psychology of education and, very successfully, group pedagogical training. The graduates received Language Link certificates and, for the best of them, the opportunity to remain at our center to teach.

New prices for learning Russian as a foreign language will come into effect at Language Link as of 1 September 2007. For those clients who already attended lessons during the course of 2007, the new prices will become applicable as of 1 January 2008. If a client has already effected prepayment, the cost of courses will not be revised. For those who began studying in August the old prices will remain in effect during the month of August and the new ones will be implemented in September.

June
|
On June 15, we successfully completed the Spring semester of the RLUS program. This was our 10th year working with English and Scottish universities.
Our students have made great progress in the Russian language. They have improved their vocabulary, so that they can now speak freely about Russian politics, economy, and culture.
At the end of the program, there was a traditional Russian Tea partó. The students received certificates and gifts from Language Link. They had prepared a number of surprises as well. They performed a short skit entitled "A Day in the Life of an English Student in Russia." Then, they read the poem "ß Âàñ ëþáèë" by Alexander Pushkin and dedicated it to their favorite teacher.
We would like to wish the students success in their Russian studies and a wonderful summer!

The spring semester of the British RLUS programme, which we have been working together with for four years now, has begun. 12 students from various British universities will study Russian language and Russian culture in Russia, at Language Link, until June. The programme includes practical courses in the Russian language and translation, with students reading works by Chekhov and Bunin, and poetry by Blok, Tsvetaeva and Pasternak in class, as well as watching Russian films and reading Russian newspapers and magazines. Moreover, the quick-paced Moscow lifestyle will immerse them in the language and everyday life, which becomes like a second university for our students. We wish our students a successful semester and interesting life in Moscow!

In January we signed a contract with a new company - the renowned French jewellery and watch company Cartier. We are hoping for successful cooperation in the new year. Our number of students has increased at the company Daimler Chrysler, with whom we have been working productively for three years now. We are pleased with the development of our relationships with our old partners, the companies Perekrestok, Finance bank and Home Credit, where our number of clients has also risen.
